Follow these steps to correct the Maillist error messages "Data
File Not Properly Terminated" and "Data File Does Not Match
  Current Form."

  1. Edit the data file in the nondocument mode of WordStar.

  2. If the three characters "<@>" appear at the beginning
of the file, delete them. (This is the document header
for WordStar, showing that the data file was improperly
       edited in the document mode.)

  3. Check to make sure each line in the data file starts with a
comma in column 1. If there are lines which do not meet
this requirement, refer to step 4.

  4. All blank lines, lines with graphic characters such as
little houses, and lines with incomplete records should be
deleted by pressing ^Y (Ctrl-Y). If there are any blank
lines below the last full record line, they should be
       deleted in the same way.

  5. Return the cursor to Line 1, Column 1 and press ^QU. This
command will strip the top bit, which will return the file
       to nondocument format.

  6. Save the file.

  7. Delete the associated index file. For example, WSLIST.DTA
will have WSLIST.NDX as its index file.

  8. Go into the MailList program, choose the correct form and
data file. Press "R" to rebuild the index when prompted to
       do so.

  9. Sort the data file in record number order.

  10. When you add new records to the data file with Maillist, you
may see the message "Control Record not found." Follow the
instructions after the message to either accept the value
shown to give to the next record, or enter a new value for
       the next record.
