This folder contains a complete set of the various manuals that
came with WordStar for DOS 7.0 Rev. D:

   * Quick Reference (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Using WordStar (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Reference (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Upgrading from a Previous Release (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Installing and Customizing (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Printers and Monitors (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Companion Programs (WordStar 7).pdf

I've made these Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF)
files fully text-searchable.

The file "Combined Manuals (WordStar 7).pdf" contains all the
separate manuals combined into a single file that is 1,078 pages
long. Searching in this file will turn up every reference to a
term across the entire set of WordStar manuals. "Combined
Manuals (WordStar 7).pdf contains the manuals is this order:

   * Quick Reference (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Reference (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Using WordStar (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Installing and Customizing (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Upgrading from a Previous Release (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Printers and Monitors (WordStar 7).pdf
   * Companion Programs (WordStar 7).pdf
   * PC-Outline (WordStar 5).pdf

Additionally, with Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, or another
program that can deal with Adobe .pdx catalog index files, you
can open "WordStar Manuals Index.pdx" and search across all
seven of the separate manuals that came with WordStar 7.0.

I made the file "Macros (WordStar 7).pdf" by combining the
sections on WordStar's macro language from both the "Using
WordStar (WordStar 7).pdf" and "Reference (WordStar 7).pdf"
manuals. I've placed an extra copy of this manual in
C:\WS\MACROS.

WordStar has several command-line options, but the phrase
"command-line options" doesn't appear in the manuals, so I've
extracted the page that lists them all from "Quick Reference
(WordStar 7).pdf" into its own one-page document that I've called
"Command-Line Options (WordStar 7).pdf".

The file "Companion Programs (WordStar 7).pdf" contains manuals
for these five programs (each with a separate index):

   * Inset           (graphics integration)
   * MailList        (merge-printing maillist manager)
   * ProFinder       (text-searching utility -- very useful!)
   * Star Exchange (for converting to other formats)
   * TelMerge (obsolete; for dial-up modems)

I have extracted each of those five manuals into individual
files, one for each program: they are in the folder
"C:\WS\MANUALS\Companion Programs." I've also copied each one
into the appropriate program folder (so, for instance, you'll
find "ProFinder (WordStar 7).pdf" in C:\WS\PF as well as in
"C:\WS\MANUALS\Companion Programs".)

PC-Outline (an outlining program) was distributed as a companion
program with WordStar 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0, but not 7.0.  I'm
providing the manual for it that came with WordStar 5.0, and have
also provided the actual program in the folder C:\WS\PCO.

In the folder "C:\WS\MANUALS\WordStar 5.0," you'll find the
single giant WordStar Professional 5 manual. If you've used
WordStar 4.0 or below, but never a later version, the manual
"WordStar Professional Release 5 -- What's New.pdf" is a very
useful guide to the many new features; it's much more
comprehensive that the "Upgrading from a Previous Release
(WordStar 7).pdf" manual.

Note that 7.0's pulldown menu system is very different -- and
much superior -- and WordStar 7.0 has many additional new
features, which are document in the "Upgrading from a Previous
Release (WordStar 7).pdf" manual provided above.

tedious work of scanning all these manuals. Visit her web page
