In converting FROM Word to WordStar 4 via Microsoft Word for 
Windows 2000's file filters (in the Save As dialog), dumb 
quotation marks end up being treated like extended characters.  
In hex, they show as:

                            1B 22 1C

instead of just hex:

                               22

This prevents WordStar from finding them.

Searching for the high-order equivalent --  -- doesn't work.

They can be spotted in Ztree's ASCII or Hex views, though.
