README file for WSUTIL.ZIP
--------------------------
June 26, 1992

WSUTIL.ZIP contains a set of small, fast utilities designed specifically
for WordStar users. They were written by Peter Mierau (CompuServe ID
76340,1121), the principal author of WordStar versions 4 and 5. They
may be distributed freely at no charge.

WSASC.COM Converts a WordStar file to plain ASCII format.
For any version of WordStar through 7.0.

WSOLD.COM Converts a new WordStar file (versions 5.0 through 7.0)
to the old WordStar format (versions 3.0 through 4.0).

ASCWS.COM Converts an ASCII file to WordStar format, with soft
returns within paragraphs. For any version of WordStar
                through 7.0.

WSBIT.COM Removes the high-order bits from old WordStar files.
Newer versions of WordStar (after 5.0) do not require
these bits, and occasionally get confused by them.

WSFREE.COM Frees older versions of WordStar 5.x from a lock-up
situation. This TSR must be run prior to WordStar.

To find out how to use any of these utilities, just enter the program name
at the DOS prompt with no parameters on the command line.
